Market sources reported that William Partners shut its ethylene plant in Geismar, Louisiana offline due to a power outage on March 12, which caused the furnace tubes to break unexpectedly.
When the 885,000 tons/year plant will be restarted is not yet known, although it is expected to last for three weeks, sources said.
Chevron Phillips had declared force majeure on its 420,000 tons/year PE production from Texas on March 13 due to a power outage that affected Orange and the nearby cities.
