EU exempts LLDPE from retaliatory tariffs on US imports

  • 11/04/2025 (14:33)
According to market sources, the EU has reportedly excluded most US imports of LLDPE and mLLDPE from the final list of retaliatory tariffs. Although the European Commission has yet to publish the definitive list of US products facing countermeasures, other polyethylene (PE) grades are reported to be included in the draft list.

The draft list was approved by a majority of EU member states in a vote on Wednesday. Following Trump’s 90-day suspension of most tariffs, the EU has also postponed the enforcement of its retaliatory measures.

Sources had anticipated that 25% tariffs on other PE grades would take effect on May 15. It is now uncertain whether the tariffs will be implemented after the 90-day period.
