March PP, PE offers remain bullish in Kenya, buyers resist

Players in Kenya reported receiving March import PP and PE offers with increases for the third month in a row. Offers were assessed $10-30/ton higher compared to February levels, hitting their highest levels since May 2023 and June 2023 respectively.

According to market sources, ongoing supply constraints from regular suppliers continued to push prices higher in Kenya, nevertheless, trading activities remain hammered amidst thin downstream demand. “The sustainability of hikes remains under discussion considering the resistance toward current upper ends and the already slack demand given Ramadan lull,” a local source opined.

The new offers are as follows (all on CFR Mombassa, 90 days basis):

HDPE film: $1060-1080/ton

HDPE b/m-inj: $1060-1080/ton

LDPE film: $1150-1170/ton

LLDPE film: $1050-1070/ton

Homo-PP raffia and inj.: $1090-1120/ton

PPH film-fibre: $1130-1160/ton
