Stats: Egypt ramps up PP, PE and PVC sales to Brazil in 2025, while flows to Türkiye shrink

Egypt has become one of Brazil’s fastest-rising polymer suppliers in 2025, sharply expanding its PP, PE and PVC shipments during January-November, ChemOrbis Stats Wizard reveals. Although volumes remain small compared with the main origins particularly in PP and PE, Egypt’s gains were strong enough to alter Brazil’s supplier rankings across all three polymers.

Meanwhile, this remarkable increase in Egypt’s exports to Brazil contradicted the striking slump in exports to Türkiye, historically the top destination for Egyptian PP and PVC in particular.

PVC: Egypt becomes Brazil’s second-largest supplier amid EU ADD diversion

Egypt saw its most dramatic advance in PVC, shipping more than 102,000 tons to Brazil in Jan–Nov 2025, according to ChemOrbis Stats Wizard. This represents a more than 20-fold increase from 2023 and a 50% rise from 2024.

Crucially, Egypt moved up to become Brazil’s second-largest PVC supplier, surpassing the US.
This surge was partly driven by Europe’s anti-dumping duties on Egyptian PVC in 2025, which diverted volumes away from the EU and into Brazil, strengthening Egypt’s position in the Latin American market.

This notable jump in PVC exports to Brazil comes at a time when a decrease is witnessed in many regular outlets, aside from the EU. Türkiye, Egypt’s number 1 PVC export destination, imported 24% less than the same period of last year. This has also reflected on the market share, which is down to around 7% this year from last year’s 12%.

The overall PVC production has indeed been lower in 2025 in Egypt given the suspended operations at one of the local producers stemming from a halt of natural gas deliveries. Although the outage lasted around 2 weeks, the local producers have been running their plants at lower rates since then.

PP: From marginal supplier to a meaningful market player in Brazil

In PP, Brazil imported around 74,000 tons from Egypt in 2025, marking a seven-fold jump from 2024 and a significant leap from its near-zero base in 2023, according to ChemOrbis Stats Wizard.

This rapid rise propelled Egypt to 5th place among Brazil’s PP suppliers in 2025, up from a negligible position last year. Egypt’s share in Brazil’s PP imports climbed to 13%, compared with less than 1% in 2024.

As it’s the case in PVC, the considerable increase in Egypt’s PP exports to Brazil is interesting as Egypt’s overall PP exports have slowed this year given maintenance shutdowns. Its main outlet, Türkiye, has seen a yearly 14% drop in January-October 2025. The market share of Egypt also edged down slightly to around 8% in Türkiye’s overall PP imports.

PE: Solid growth, rising to fifth place in Brazil

Egypt also expanded its presence in Brazil’s PE imports, delivering 46,000 tons to Brazil in Jan–Nov 2025, ChemOrbis Stats Wizard displays. This points to a more than three-fold increase from 2024 and a sharp jump compared with 2023, when volumes were minimal.

Thanks to this growth, Egypt ranked 5th among Brazil’s PE suppliers in 2025, while its market share rose to around 3%, up from below 1% last year.

On the contrary, Egypt’s PE exports to Türkiye were down by 18% in January-October 2025. Egypt is not in a crucially important position for Türkiye as much as it is in PP and PVC, since it forms around 1% of overall PE imports.
