Stats: Türkiye’s September polymer imports barely change on month, year

According to ChemOrbis Stats Wizard, Türkiye’s total September polymer imports edged down by 1% from August, while they inched higher by 0.8% from September 2024. Saudi Arabia remained the number one polymer supplier with a 27% share, followed by South Korea (13%) and the US (11%). Meanwhile, the total import value slightly rose to nearly $532 million month over month, but indicated a yearly decline.

PP sustains yearly downtrend for another month

The combined PPH and PP copolymer imports totaled around $211 million in September, marking a gain on the month but a fall on the year. The combined volume increased by 5% on the month, while the yearly comparison indicated a 19% decline.

Homo-PP imports in September rose by 4.5% month over month but slumped by 19% year over year. The volume stood below 150,000 tons for the second straight month. Saudi Arabia retained its position as Türkiye’s top PP supplier, lifting its market share from 43% to 54% compared to September 2024. It was followed by South Korea and Egypt, with respective shares of 17% and 7%. They lifted their shares by 8% and 4%, respectively, year on year, ChemOrbis Stats Wizard showed. As a side note, the total import value for PPH increased by % on the month to nearly $157 million.

For PP copolymer, Türkiye’s September imports moved up by 7% from the previous month, while the yearly comparison pointed to a 15.5% drop. Saudi Arabia was the top supplier, although its share was down by 3% to 26% on the year. It was followed by South Korea, whose share increased by 2% year over year. Belgium ranked the third largest source, raising its share from 8% to 15% on the year. Meanwhile, the total value of copolymer imports in September was at about $55 million, up from $49 million in August, ChemOrbis Stats Wizard suggested.

Total PE imports at lowest in a year

In September, the combined LDPE, LLDPE, mLLDPE, and HDPE imports recorded a 5% loss from August, while the figure indicated a 2% gain on year. The volume pointed to the lowest figure since September 2024. Value-wise, the combined imports totaled $185 million, down from the previous month and the same period last year.

Imports of LDPE rose by 6% on the month, while the volume gained 2% from September 2024. The value of LDPE imports soared by 12% from the previous month to $43 million.

Saudi Arabia, Spain and Qatar were the top suppliers, with respective shares of 18%, 12%, and 9% in total imports. Belgium rose to fourth from seventh place in September last year, as its market share increased from 6% to 8%. Back in September last year, The US was ranked fourth among suppliers. Meanwhile, in September 2025, its share fell by 4% year-on-year, putting the country in eight spot.

Imports for LLDPE gained 4% monthly and 2% yearly. Meanwhile, the value of September LLDPE imports stood at $61 million.

The USA was the largest supplier despite a 3% decline in its share from September 2024. It was followed by Saudi Arabia, whose share plunged from 37% to 29% on the year. Iran ranked as Türkiye’s third-largest LLDPE supplier, lifting its share from 6% in September 2024 to 12%.

Türkiye’s September mLLDPE imports slumped by 30% from August 2025 and declined by 4% from September 2024. Meanwhile, the total value of September mLLDPE imports eroded to $10 million.

The USA remained the top supplier, while its market share jumped from 41% to 51% on the year. The country was followed by the Netherlands (13%) and Spain (8%). Their shares were up by 9% and 5% on the year, respectively.

September HDPE imports slumped by 12% month-over-month to below the 70,000 tons mark, their lowest level since September 2024, while they indicated a 2% increase on a yearly basis. Their value decreased by 8% from August to $71 million, also down by 3% year-over-year.

Saudi Arabia remained the top HDPE supplier, with a 3% gain in its share to 27% year over year. The US followed, with its share surging by 9% to 18% over the same period. Iran moved down from second to third place on the list, with its share sliding from 21% to 14% year-on-year.

S. Korea becomes 2nd top PVC supplier after USA    

Türkiye’s September PVC imports increased by 3.5% from August, while the volume surged steeply compared to the same month of last year, ChemOrbis Stats Wizard suggested. Meanwhile, the value of PVC imports was $68 million.

The USA remained the top supplier, with its share rising by 1% from the same period in 2024 to 20%. It was followed by South Korea, with a 14% share in total imports. Meanwhile, Spain ranked the third largest supplier with a 3% gain in share, yearly.

PS and ABS up on month, EPS imports record steep decline

PS imports rose 2% in September from the previous month, while the volume posted a sharper increase of 39% year on year. The import value totaled $14 million, down 6% on the month but up 20% on the year. South Korea overtook Belgium’s place to become the largest source with a 23% share. It was followed by Belgium, whose share increased by 8% on the year. China, the third largest PS supplier in September, raised its share by 11%, rising from eight spot in the same month last year.

In September, EPS imports receded by 16% from the previous month. The volume dropped by a sharper 65% from September 2024. The value of September imports was 1.5 million, down by 19% on the month and 70% on the year. Russia was the top supplier, lifting its share from 17% to 47% year on year, followed by China and Belgium.

ABS imports in September rose by 6.5% on the month but declined by 11% on the year. The value of imports was $21 million, up by 5% from the previous month.

South Korea remained by far the largest supplier with a share of 64%, indicating a 13% spike compared to September 2024. The country was followed by Taiwan (14%) and Saudi Arabia (6%). Taiwan’s share rose by 4% while Saudi Arabia faced a 11% plunge on the year.

Both PET bottle and textile imports slide

September PET bottle imports posted a sharp drop of 30.5% on the month, while the yearly comparison pointed to a 4% loss. The total value of imports neared $22 million, down 26% on the month and 13% on the year. China (a 93% share in total) stayed by far the biggest supplier. It was followed by Nigeria and Egypt.

PET textile imports decreased by 3% on the month, while they slumped 22% on the year in September. The value of imports was around $8 million. China was the main supplier, despite a 28% slump in its share on the year. It was followed by Malaysia (24%) and Algeria (21%).
