Starting as a feed producer in 1968, Banvit gradually went into the production of broiler chickens. Today, the Company is able to carry out all stages of vertical integration regarding poultry production.
As a result of restructuring that began in 1996, Banvit extended its vision and focused on investments that would lead it toward becoming one of the foremost food producers in Europe. In the wake of the establishment of Banvit Romania, construction of a processed food production facility in Bandırma began in 1999; this facility began operating in May 2001. With the establishment of this further processing plant, the product range broadened to include other meat based products such as cooked meatballs, kebabs, gyros, burgers and coated products as well as salami, sausages and franks. Banvit purchased the Tadpi facility in Armutlu, Izmir in 2000 and since May 2001 has been producing turkey products.
For the last eight years Banvit has carried out production in compliance with the HACCP, an important inspection program with regard to food safety. In addition, the scope of the ISO 9001 Certificate issued by the BVQI in November 2000 was expanded to include live production; the certificate was updated in January 2002. Futhermore, the renewed waste treatment facility with a daily capacity of 3.500 cubic meters and 200 tons liquid and solid waste respectively, started operating in December 2001. On September 16, 2003, the ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems Certificate was awarded separately for chicken and turkey production, a rare accomplishment in the sector even in European Union member countries.

Society is changing very rapidly in Turkey. The number of working-women is constantly increasing and they often choose processed food and ready meals because they no longer have enough time to cook. However, they also want their food to be natural and tasty. In this changing society, Banvit seeks to meet the needs of Turkish consumers with a wide range of cooked and ready-to-cook chicken and turkey products.
Banvit has been a pioneer in the Turkish poultry sector, putting it’s signature to many firsts. One of the most important of these was the sale of fresh whole chicken and other chicken products in plastic packs.

When we presented packaged fresh produce for the first time in the sector, we were effectively saying: “We always guarantee the quality of our products”. We are confident because we keep up with all the changes and developments in the sector. We participate in the trade fairs all over the world and we are always abreast of developments. Moreover, we work together with leading consultancy and service companies that can contribute to our business.
In conclusion, the underlying factor in achieving success is being open to change. The average age of our employees is 32, and our managers are always young at heart, so we have a dynamic team constantly willing to grow and push our company forward.
